These brand new, never used 5 Gallon White Oak Barrels are perfect for aging whiskey, bourbon, wine, cider and beer. Your beverage will pick up oak flavor during the aging process. Because these barrels are new, they will need to be swelled with hot water before filling.

Important notes: These barrels come with a wooden 1 5/16" bung. However, we recommend purchasing a #7 silicone bung, which can be cleaned and reused indefinitely. Barrel stand is not included with purchase.

Taking over a week to seal using EVERY method

Taking over a week to seal using EVERY method, still not sealing on the end. Good looking barrel for decor I guess.

Hi David, we are really sorry for the frustration. A new 5-gallon barrel can sometimes take a few days up to a week to seal, but if you are still seeing leaks beyond that then something is not right. That is not the experience we want for you. Please contact me at ethan@midwestbarrelco.com or call 402.904.3132 with order #2526966 as reference and we can discuss a solution.

We stand by our Damn. Good. Barrels.™ gaurantee and want you aging, not just decorating.

Too early for a full review

Too early for a full review. My plan is to use it for two years. Current thoughts. Appears to be well built. Leak free after 1 day - That is good. Not happy with size of bung hole - larger then desired. Plug is too flimsy and damaged the first night of use.

New 5 gal bar

Looks quality. Still a couple gallons short of product. Looking forward to fill day.

A couple gallons short today… but not for long! Appreciate you grabbing a barrel from us, Greg.

Barrel finally reached its destination.

After the shipping issue, I cured my barrel then filled it. After 24 hours I noticed seapage around the ends of the barrels. I hope it stops completely soon. Otherwise the barrel is a fine product.

Carl,

Glad to hear your barrel arrived safely! A little seepage can happen as the wood fully swells, but rest assured, with proper hydration and sealing, it should resolve itself over time. If you have any concerns, our customer service team is happy to help—don’t hesitate to reach out!
