January 15th, 2024
Do you know Midwest Barrel Co. CFO Josh Hoefler?
Louisville Business First thinks you should! The business news publication named him to its list of 20 People to Know in Accounting and Finance.
As part of the honor of being on the list, Josh had the opportunity to answer questions about accounting as a career and the changes he’s seen recently in the profession.
One of those questions was how accounting industry leaders and educators can encourage more young people to pursue accounting or finance careers.
“With the current accountant shortage, I feel that it’s important for industry leaders and educators to inform young people of what accounting really is and the different fields of accounting and what they entail," Josh said. "While they all rely on the same principles, different types of accounting can be very different from each other and may suit a person who previously had written off accounting as a career path.
“Accounting is a very secure profession as well, as every business has a need for it. And no matter how far technology advances, it will never replace the need for human accountants.”
That’s a pretty on-brand answer, Josh. Well done!
